What's New with WKA?
Letter From the President:
May 12, 2006

Happy spring to all Kindergarten Association Members!

This time of year is full of unexpected weather and the welcome signs of spring. It’s time to look back on all that our students have accomplished during the year and prepare for their last days in kindergarten. With that in mind, this month’s newsletter is filled with ideas to celebrate spring.

This month’s newsletter also contains the minutes of the executive board meeting and fall conference information. All members should have received a tri-fold advertising the conference at home and at school. Please spread the word and encourage your colleagues to attend next year’s conference.

Check out a new children's book about a family’s experience with Alzheimer's coming out in May from WinPress Publishing http://winpress.tripod.com. The author is a long time Kindergarten teacher and W.K.A. Board Member Toni Durben! Look for Toni’s new book at the WKA Booth at this fall’s conference, with a chance to have it signed by the author!

Two long time board members, Jan Delano and Kathy Hartjes have resigned from the executive board. Thanks to both of you for your years of service to the Wisconsin Kindergarten Association. If you’d like to join the executive board, please email the application that follows to any current board member.

As a WKA member, you will continue to receive newsletters by email. If you do not wish to receive any further WKA information please email Secretary/Membership Officer Sally Brys at sbrys@lourdesdepere.org to have your name removed from the email list. The Wisconsin Kindergarten Association does not share your information with any outside groups.

If you’ve got a great web page idea, please don’t hesitate to email me at ferris@lena.k12.wi.us . If you’d like to add a tip or idea for celebrating spring (send it me via email at ferris@lena.k12.wi.us ) for our website. The first 5 tips will receive a new red WKA tote bag! I hope to see you next fall as we welcome Linda Holliman for her presentation entitled “Teachin’ Cheap!”

Sincerely,
Beth Ferris
